Reading Glasses may be equipped in the player's head slot using the right mouse button, and once equipped provides the utility of night vision to the player. This night vision comes at the cost of having one durability and breaking the Reading Glasses causes the player to lose their night vision.
Reading Glasses belongs to the Mel collection and does not have a prerequisite to unlock it's recipe. Reading Glasses have an immensely cheap cost to craft requiring:
Unlike it's Stained Black Glass Block counter part, Reading Glasses may not be directly inserted into the player's head slot manually within their inventory screen and must be right clicked to be worn.
The Reading Glasses must however be manually removed from the head slot from within the player's inventory screen.
When equipping the Reading Glasses, it may appear placed for a split second but it will be placed in the player's head slot.
Reading Glasses doesn't actually provide the night vision effect indefinitely, and must be re-equipped once the effect wears off.
Not all forms of obtaining damage can break the Reading Glasses. Drowning, fire, lava, powdered snow, kinetic energy, and fall damage all cannot break Reading Glasses and can safely be worn in these scenarios.
If the night vision effect is already on the player and they equip and unequip the Reading Glasses, then the night vision from before is lost.
Due to the complete fragile nature of the Reading Glasses, it's may be best to have a helmet kept in the player's inventory.
Making many Reading Glasses is also a good idea as well if the player can afford the cost.
Due to Reading Glasses providing Night Vision, it is a great option for mining. If the player is cautious, then Reading Glasses can completely eliminate the need for carrying around a light source.
Reading Glasses make exploring oceans much easier thanks to the night vision provided, and also the general lack of many hostile mobs.
Reading Glasses also cuts the need to make night vision potions for players that do for ocean exploration.
