The Gnaw acts as a food item where once consumed deals 8.5 hearts worth of damage within a cone radius of about two blocks in front of the player. The Gnaw has durability of thirteen and consumes one durability for every target within the cone's radius. Once all the durability has been consumed the items breaks and a new one needs to be made. The Gnaw also has a few enchants that can be applied to them.
The Gnaw belongs to the Haachama collection and does not have a prerequisite to unlock it's recipe. The Gnaw has a fairly cheap cost to craft requiring:
The Gnaw requires at least half a bar of hunger missing for it to be able to be consumed.
The Gnaw performs the eating animation but doesn't heal back hunger, nor will it consume any durability if there aren't any targets within range.
The Gnaw is capable of hitting targets through walls.
When consumed in the main hand, The Gnaw uses durability. When Consumed in the off hand, the Gnaw does not consume durability. Even if multiple targets are hit the Gnaw still doesn't consume durability in the off hand.
Certain items can be used in tandem in the main hand with the Gnaw (e.g. Ender Pearls, Comet)
The Gnaw can be enchanted with a variety of different enchants. Some enchants have unique properties compared to what they do normally. It is possible to create a Gnaw with every enchant that it can possibly have.
Impaling: Increases the range that the Gnaw can reach.
Impaling IV grants a big enough range that it's possible to barely hit targets from behind the player.
Thorns: Increases damage, also deals damage to the player.
The more targets that are hit means the more damage the player will also take.
When a player is blocking with a shield, consuming the Gnaw seems to ignore the shield's block and even penetrate most, if not all of the player's armor. This make the Gnaw a very powerful anti-shield weapon.
The Gnaw is affected by both strength and resistance effects.
A strength II Gnaw has the power to kill a full health unarmored player with just one consumption of the Gnaw
Having both Impaling and Lure on a Gnaw makes dragging targets into a trap (e.g a lava pit) possibly easier, and definitely funnier.
